At only 2 km, from the historical center of Florence (Boboli garden, Old Bridge, Signoria Square) and from the peaceful Cistercensian
monastry of La Certosa, provided with busses that connect the Borgo to the historical center every 20/25 minutes, Borgo Ponte dell’Asse
offers its guest a fresh and skillfully renovated place to make their vacation as pleasant as possible at every time of year.
At only 10 minutes drive from the medieval walls of Florence, surrounded by thick vegetation with tall cypresses, the village is
characterized by a cluster of buildings that are typical of the rural Tuscan landscape. This settlement, dating back to the end of the
14th century, developed around a kiln (ancient factory for the production of refined Tuscan ceramics). The Borgo is comprised of an old
mill, barn, wine-fermentation room, brick-kiln and a peasant’s house. It has a courtyard paved in stone surrounded by a porch and other
buildings. It adjoins the proprietor’s Villa with a little chapel decorated with 17th century frescoes and the former lemon-house
overlooking a hanging garden. Today the entire premises have been transformed into cozy homes, without modifying the original
architecture.
Guests are hosted in a wing of the Villa, facing a lovely courtyard/garden with cotto flooring that gives access to the area reserved for
guests. The two bedrooms are furnished with typically Tuscan antique furniture. The guest area is made up of two double bedrooms: one
frescoed in Art Nouveau-style with a grand piano, about to be restored. The apartment is completed with two bathrooms (one for each
bedroom), a little dining room and a kitchen, where the host prepares breakfast in the morning for all her guests. The apartment can be
rented as such or as double bedrooms with private bathrooms, with or without breakfast. They have independent access. Special care is
given to breakfast, served in the little dining room or in the garden, with home-made produce prepared in the kitchen but, upon request,
breakfasts can be prepared by the guests themselves. With advance notice, guests may dine with the hosting family one day a week and
taste the typical dishes and wines of the Tuscan and Italian cuisine.
